How do I avoid postoperative complaints?

Postoperative sensitivities may occur in the case of exposed dentin and open dentin tubules. Stimuli – e.g. temperature, contact with sweets etc. – can trigger fluid shifts in the dentin tubules, leading to irritation of the pulp. Affected patients perceive this as postoperative complaints. Such symptoms are bothersome - for the patient and the practice team. Help to prevent them!

The solution: Use a desensitizer

Postoperative sensitivities can be effectively prevented with the help of a suitable desensitizer (e.g. Telio CS Desensitizer). Application of a desensitizer is especially important before seating a temporary restoration to pre-treat and desensitize exposed or cut dentin. The desensitizer acts as a wound dressing for the prepared cavity or stump.

Here is how it works: The desensitizer penetrates the dentin tubules. By precipitating protein, it reduces the movement of fluid in the dentin tubules. This reduces sensitivity. The desensitizer forms almost no coating on the dentin so that the adhesion of the materials applied subsequently is virtually unaffected.
