This is how you maintain the quality of all-ceramic restorations
High-quality all-ceramic restorations require regular professional care, just as natural teeth do. The objective is to establish clean, smooth surfaces on which less bacterial biofilm accumulates.
Professional tooth cleaning: a must
Regular professional tooth cleaning is a must in many patients that wear high-quality restorations such as crowns, bridges and implants. Cleaning should be performed carefully without causing unnecessary wear to the tooth structure or roughening of restoration surfaces.
Prophy pastes: spoilt for choice?
When choosing a prophy paste, preferably use a paste system that comprises pastes in different abrasive values.
- Fine pastes (e.g. RDA 7) are suitable for removing light accretion and for polishing.
- Medium pastes (e.g. RDA 36) are ideal for removing plaque.
- Coarse pastes (e.g. RDA 83) are suited for the removal of plaque and staining.
Proxyt is a prophylaxis paste system that meets these requirements. The fine prophy paste Proxyt pink does not contain pumice. Delicate surfaces such as ceramic restorations are cleaned without scratching. The paste is gentle to the gums.
