Case study of a supreme challenge: Who spots the crown?
Nobody really chooses to be a dental technician because they are excited by the thought of producing one monolithic crown after another or because they have a passion about all things economic. What gets a technician really going is the possibility of designing an anterior tooth in such a way that it looks completely real and natural – that is the kind of challenge that technicians like. This demands great technical and creative skill as well as the use of suitable materials, such as highly esthetic zirconia.
Yuki Momma (Weston, MA, USA) is a passionate dental technician who is renowned internationally for his exceptional sense of esthetics. Together with dentist Dr Christy Savas (Worcester, MA, USA), he put a new all-ceramic solution to the ultimate test: IPS e.max ZirCAD Prime. The objective was to restore a single incisor with an esthetic anterior crown made of zirconia in a young patient with a very light tooth shade.
