Greater efficiency: CAD/CAM meets press technology
Have you heard? In this age of digitalization, when producing IPS e.max press restorations, you can combine the strengths of press technology with the advantages of CAD/CAM technology in one manufacturing process. The simplified manufacturing process increases the efficiency and productivity of your dental laboratory. The devices and materials are ideally coordinated with each other.

Does your dental laboratory have a model scanner from 3Shape with the corresponding design software (DentalDesigner) for designing single tooth restorations? And do you already process the IPS e.max Press Multi ingots? Excellent - because now you can connect both technologies together!
Dental scanner from 3Shape
Check out the video: More information on the Digital Press Design for IPS e.max Press Multi.
And this is how it works!
First, scan the patient's model situation using a 3Shape dental scanner. All current types of model are suitable for this purpose. Construct the single restorations (veneers, anterior and posterior crowns) as usual.
With the add-on software "Digital Press Design - Press Multi" the production of IPS e.max Press Multi restorations is easier. Thanks to this innovative software add-on, the horizontal IPS e.max Press Multi press channels (so-called wax patterns) are automatically positioned at the virtual restoration. The position of the wax pattern can be individually adjusted in order to achieve the desired esthetics and polychromatic colour effect.
The Digital Press Design is based on the standard software DentalDesigner 2015 (from version 15.5.0) from 3Shape.
Wax Disc
After the design process has been completed, mill the restorations, including the press channel, from the ProArt Wax Disc for Zenotec Yellow wax disc. This material has been specially developed for use in press and CAD/CAM technology. The wax disc is characterized by good milling qualities and it burns-out residue-free. The milled objects have a high precision of accuracy and smooth, detailed surfaces.
Finally, transfer the milled objects directly to the pressing process and continue the procedure in a Programat press furnace.
The advantages at a glance:
- Automatic positioning of the press channels prevents errors during the spruing process
- Visualized colour sequence for colour gradient control
- High fitting accuracy, detailed reproduction and smooth wax surfaces
- Excellent milling process
