
What to do if soldering doesn’t go as planned?

Have you ever experienced that? You are soldering in your dental laboratory, but it isn’t going to plan. The solder won’t flow, it “curls up into a ball”. Or the soldering gap isn’t filled properly. Or a soldered joint breaks... In situations such as these, advice is always welcome. No need to panic: We’ll show you what to do. A practical overview provides help quickly.

Under the heading "Trouble shooting" we have summarized six illustrative examples on soldering. For each example you will find several suggestions to help you solve your problem. Here is one of the six examples with the corresponding suggestions:
Example: The soldering gap is not completely filled.
- Use an adequate quantity and the recommended solder.
- Check the dimensions and the preparation of the soldering gap.
- Prevent oxide formation.
- Ensure correct flame settings and observe the temperature rise.
- Ensure even heating of the metal framework and the soldering base.
- Use the recommended flux.
